On behalf of the Whitby Shores Public School's SCC, more specifically, the Parent/Community Engagement Committee, we'd like to thank you for completing the Whitby Shores Public School Parent Engagement Survey back in January 2012.
Your responses were considered during many of the decisions made by the SCC this spring, and will continue to be a great resource for next year's SCC. Here are just some examples of what the SCC has done as a direct result of your input:
- organized a community based family outing (The Oshawa Generals' game) and a year-end social event for families, both of which occurred outside of typical working hours;
- organized fundraisers that you identified were ones you'd like to support e.g. coin drives, raffles and a silent auction;
- allocated fundraised monies towards sports equipment, musical instruments and computers;
- all respondents who identified their desire to volunteer more with school events were contacted and asked to volunteer at our year-end BBQ and Social night.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your opinions with us. It has helped us identify opportunities for greater involvement of parents in school community life. Have a safe and wonderful summer!
